Why We Don’t Use a Shot List

One of the biggest questions that we get from our couples is if they need to put together a list of the specific photos or poses that they want us to capture on their wedding day.

Why We Don’t Use a Wedding Day Shot List

The short answer (outside of posed family photos), is no, absolutely not. We don't need a shot list, or even a Pinterest mood-board of photos that you like or are drawn to for your wedding day because you, your fiance, your family and your location are our inspiration for your big day. Some photographers will only work off of a shot list.... We are not those photographers because we prefer to go with the flow and let the natural moments that are happening in front of us dictate the photos that we capture. We don't want to stop the natural flow of emotion that's happening on your wedding day to make sure that we get a close-up picture of your ring hand on your bouquet. Instead, we'll grab it as it naturally happens throughout the day.

The candid photos of couples that you see all over the internet? We want those moments to happen naturally and candidly for you two. There's nothing worse than stopping a genuine moment to try to create something staged. Odds are it will wind up looking forced, and not even close to your inspiration photo. We promise, we have our way of guiding you through to get these natural moments that you're looking for without recreating something that you saw on Pinterest.

We're hoping that since you booked us for your wedding day, you're already in love (or major like) with our work. We don't take that lightly on your wedding day, but we do ask that you trust us when it comes to capturing your day and moments.

Of course we'll work off a shot list for your formal family and wedding party photos, and we have our own ingrained shot list when it comes to capturing all of your details and reception room details.

But everything else? Trust us when we say that it's best to let it play out naturally and to let us capture those moments along the way instead of trying to force poses on your wedding day when all you want to do is relax and enjoy yourselves with all of your loved ones.
